Sign Grant Program

A Sign Grant Program is available to assist local businesses.  The intent of the grant is to assist businesses in attracting more customers, and encourage and promote aesthetically pleasing signage. The maximum grant amount is $500 per sign or business, excluding the cost of any sign permits or building permits (permits are the responsibility of the business owner).  Grant funds can be used wholly for the cost of the sign frame, sign board and lighting, or used — with an additional investment by the business owner — toward the cost of a more expensive sign.  Any business located within the Urban Renewal boundary area is eligible; certain restrictions may apply.

Urban Revitalization Grant Program

The Phoenix Urban Renewal Agency recognizes the importance of Phoenix’s local businesses to the wellbeing of the community.  In light of the devastation wrought by the 2020 Almeda Fire, PHURA has reinstituted its grant program under a new name.  The purpose of the Urban Revitalization Grant Program is to support local business owners and empower them to present their business’ best face to the community and potential customers.

PHURA will support revitalization by making grant funds available to locally owned businesses located in the Urban Renewal District for capital improvement projects related to the goals of “curb-appeal”, “place-making”, “access”, “greening”, “resilience”, “practicality”, and “foresight”.
