Apply for a City Business License

Where you will want to start first.

Check in with the Planning and Building department, making sure that your type of business is allowed at the location.  The Planning and Building department will determine if any additional permits will be required for the business.

Once the Planning and Building Department has approved the business for your location, you can then apply for a business license.  If your business is based within the City limits of Phoenix and based out out your home, you will need a Home Occupation Permit and a Home Based Business License.  If your business is located in a Commerical location or based outside of the City limits of Phoenix, you will need a Commerical Business License.  Please ensure the form is filled out completely, as incomplete forms my cause a delay in processing of the business license.

The city also requires that certain types of businesses (e.g., food vendors, pawnbrokers, etc.) hold a special Federal, State or County license , in addition to holding a city business license.
