Earth Day at Blue Heron Park

Earth Day at Blue Heron Park

April 19, 2025 Noon-4pm

WRITTEN by Sandy Wine

Spring is the time to get outside after a long cold winter and enjoy the outdoors.

Park your car and jump on the Jacksonville historic trolley at the Phoodery’s downtown parking lot and head out to Blue Heron Park to celebrate Earth Day.

Robert Coffan, known for Save the Phoenix Wetlands and Southern Oregon Monarch Advocates, will be our MC, welcoming us to start the day.

The event is FREE of charge and will host 20 vendors representing local non-profits, businesses, and clubs that involve our kids in fun and educational activities with a focus on environmental stewardship.

Check out the nurseries selling Oregon native plants, stop by the Rogue Credit Union booth for kid games and eco-friendly giveaways, including 325 kid school lunch bags. Explore the Phoenix Library’s DART van to catch a look at some of the resources and technology our library has to offer and meet “Flora”, the Farm Bistro Bus, a mobile educational kitchen and greenhouse.

If you bring a volleyball, feel free to play a game at the Park sand court, or picnic on the lawn while you listen to the live music from Jen Ambrose, or experience Oregon’s geological history with our “Walk Through Time” exhibit along the park pathway.

And don’t forget, if you have time in the morning, do come to the annual Bear Creek Stewards Spring Clean-up in the morning from 9am until noon.
